Analysis and Assessment of Land-use and Land cover and Water Quality of the Chikkamadhure Lake and Obanaikanahalli Lake using Remote Sensing and GIS, Karnataka, India

For the present study, we considered 2 Lakes such as Chikkamadhure Lake and Obanaikanahalli Lake. These are oldest From past 1989 to in Bangalore rural, with their source being rainwater. Hence there is a need restore protect this The study deals studying analyzing Physico-chemical parameters of these lakes at different sampling points locations land use, Landcover changes around lakes. following were analyzed KSPCB Lab using analytical methods, i.e. Turbidity, Total Dissolved solids, PH, hardness, chloride, calcium, fluoride, P alkalinity, Electrical conductivity, magnesium, sodium, potassium, COD, BOD, Nitrate sulphate. And also, heavy metals conducted, Nickel, cadmium, iron, lead, zinc, chromium copper, know appearance aquatic animals plants. analysis, result shows that for all Lakes, like Chemical oxygen demand, alkalinity magnesium well within permissible limit. manganese, copper below detection level Lake, except has manganese (0.060mg/l). BOD exceeded limit per standards; it 5 mg/l, so moderately polluted. other total chlorides, fluorides, sulphate, nitrate, dissolved zinc iron two not meeting standards. It was concluded lake water could be used domestic purposes, irrigation also drinking purposes proper treatment. LULC presents analysis qualitative assessment rural lakes; ecosystem modernly polluted lulc classes. Around buffering about 1000 m from centre taken mapped ArcGis software on land-use Land-cover area 2021, 42 years results show Landuse increasing area, but bodies decreasing area.
